Thank You's

Spending a couple of days in my art studio was like a mini-vacation. I didn't want to return to the "real" world. Instead of the usual thank you cards one can make, I decided on a matchbox with a surprise inside and an altered bingo card in the spirit of Halloween with the personal message on the back. It was interesting how difficult it was for me to get my creative juices flowing - maybe the time crunch and expectation had given me some barriers. However, in the end I was pleased with the results.

Halloween Trinket Dresser

Pinterest sends me weekly "you might like these" messages.  Several months ago (maybe it's been a year?) I remember thinking that the artist that made the Halloween trinket dresser was very clever - it looked like a super cool project.  This past weekend I wanted to make my own with the items I had available in my studio. I had a lot of fun engineering this project and have already made notes of improvement for the next one..... "IF" I make another one!
I made the dresser where the bottom drawers can be completely removed without the dresser collapsing.

Halloween ATC Book

I was inspired by an artist book I saw on Pininterst recently. What caught my eye was some frayed fabric peaking out between a page. I wanted to create that same look, only I had to take it over the top. In my material stash, I found the perfect fabric. After rust and tea dye staining, it was ready to be included as part of each page. Also in my material stash was a sample piece of leather - and I had just enough. The last piece of fabric that I used for the spine was canvas that I had dyed a few years ago. The colors were a perfect match for the Halloween theme. I was excited about making this book because it would be a great way to showcase all the Halloween ATC's I have made recently as well as those made in the past few years. Making the closure for the book at first was a challenge and then it all fell into place. In case you wonder, the cross is to ward off vampires! When I was taking the photos, I only took photos of two pages and not of the whole book. There are a few Halloween ATC's to be traded and I wanted to them to remain unseen.

RangerInk Swap

I couldn't resist the RangerInk swap challenge of the 6x6 swap of "no theme" and using Ranger products to create and to embellish. I love "no theme" challenges because I find creativity flows easier for me. With Halloween approaching I thought of using Tim Holtz's rubber stamps for the season. Good thing I had these on hand. Ninety percent of my rubber stamp collection was in storage.
