Inperfection

I have given this book the title of "Imperfection" for lots of reasons.  First, it is made from the scraps from carpetbag books previously posted. Below are photos of the pages I made from the scraps. I quit making pages when only tiny bits of paper were left in my scrap pile and those I tossed. I HAVE to use the scraps before the pile takes over my work space and BEFORE I can begin a new project.
The pages below are loose and I will not bind them into the book.  This size book is a TN size and I am using a rubber band to hold the pages together.  The pages are now ready for me to add my personal ephemera and journal notes.

Simply Devine

I am now using lots of textiles from laces, trims, and ribbons to add interest to my journals.  I am loving the process!

A Time of Wonders

This is the last of the carpetbag books in the series of 3 posted below.
Below are some of my favorite pages.

Little Things

This the first book in the series of three carpetbag journals.  I made the pages from all kinds of sources and in all sizes.  It was fun to use the bits and pieces from my scrap piles too.  Of course, there is plenty of rubber stamping too!
Below are some of my favorite pages - pockets that hold all sorts of notes tucked inside.

Carpetbag Journals

I am now connected with an interior designer who is willing to give me the discontinued fabric samples whenever I want them.  Yay for me! I have PLENTY to share with my sister, who is a quilter and knows plenty of quilters.  Are they going to quilt these delicious textiles..... probably not but what they have in common is that they all are amazing at sewing construction and engineering.  I know I will be super impressed with the projects they will be making.  For me, I am going to be making lots and lots of "carpetbag journals".  Below are three journals that were made during the holiday season.  I added bits and pieces of past holidays that were from my family as well as those from other estates.
I'll be posting favorite pages from these three journals.

From Italy to NYC to Tulsa to Minneapolis - Traveler's Notebook - Sort of.....

The leather bound journal was made in Italy and I purchased it at Kate's Paperie in Manhattan during the 90's. The journal traveled back with me to Tulsa.  Then I made a move to Minneapolis! It is truly amazing at how long I have been interested in art journaling - 15 - 20 years?.  No one knew what I was talking about and couldn't seem to understand the concept even after much explanation. Now there is a whole art community of artist making journals and I no longer feel like I am the odd ball!

In any case, at some point I wanted to do something different with my journal, so I removed all the pages to make new inserts. The love the idea of the TN books. Although mine is a different size from the standard TN, the idea is similar.
I use the leather cover to protect the inside book which can be removed.
I don't think I am capable of making a skinny book!
It is chocked full of goodness.... and I had an opportunity to use fibers and trims.
A piece of a very OLD handkerchief was used on the front cover and vintage pearl buttons were sewn on along with some other lace trims form my stash.
This is the back cover with a chocolate lace trim sewn as an embellishment.... as if I needed that!
This page along with the posts below were some of my favorite pages.  I used paper scraps along with ephemera that I had saved from my numerous adventures at flea markets, garage sales and "dumpster" diving.  Since I was making this book during the Christmas season, I included bits and pieces from not only my personal holiday stash but from those I had in my collection from others.

The two photos below are close up views of tabs that were made from textiles, lace, trims, file folders with beads and charms.
