Cowgirl Jessica!

My friend Melinda's daughter, Jessica is quite the cowgirl. She is graduating from high school and appreciates hand made things instead of store bought gifts. I recently had tags published in the RubberStampMadness issue for "Days Gone By". I made a different book cover for Jessica than the one that I submitted because I wanted to find a leather piece from my stash that represented a saddle. Congrats as she earned a few ribbons over the weekend in a barrel racing competition! I added quotes on the back of each tag for her.

I did make the inserts for the tags that was different than the original submission.  I separated the pockets using sewing instead of grommets.  The accordion folded book contained four pockets with a map background of areas where her family has taken camping trips.
This is one of the quotes that I added to each of the tags.

FYI - I'll be posting my original book later.

Thank Shoe RSM!

Thank you Roberta Sperling, Editor in Chief and Sarah Hoban, awesome writer for RSM! Loved, loved the feature article of Sister Act. And sending you huge hugs for posting photos of my shoe on your Facebook page and in the new issue!

If you are one my blog followers you already know that I love sending a shoe in the mail. Each one is different and being sent for a different reason. Each shoe that I have altered has been a lot of fun for me making and mailing. I have been told by the recipient that there is a whole lotta joy in receiving such a piece of "mail"....very unexpected!

"Sister Act" published in RSM!

Paper dolls was one of our exchanges this year in our art group.  For myself, I made a banner for all seven art dolls appropriately named "Seven Sisters".  Then I submitted the banner to RubberStampMadness, which is one of my favorite rubber stamping magazines.  They did an awesome presentation and feature story on my banner.  Thank you RSM!

A little bit about my process, I spent a day making all the dolls so it was an easy exchange for me as I really love making paper dolls!  I marked on the back of the doll the name of recipient and appropriate date.
I should have done a better job of recording what I named each doll! However, knowing the recipient and making the doll specific for her was very easy!
I am naming this doll "For the Birds".

Angel Collage

This is the angel collage that was published in RubberStampMadness...Issue No. 166 (November, December, January 2010)with a little detail that was altered. My original piece was made using an angel image that was nude. RSM wrote a thoughtful request to me and I made another angel with a cover-up.

It is so exciting to see your artwork in print! RSM is an awesome publication to work with and I would encourage anyone who is a rubber stamper to support this publication by ordering a subscription AND submitting your artwork! GO FOR IT!

Published in RubberStampMadness!!!

I just received my May/June 2008 issue of RSM featuring my book. WOW!! It's always a thrill to being published and seeing your artwork in print! This book was a joy to make and I appreciate the great writing by Joyce Baldwin that really captured my feelings about the project. RSM is a terrific publication and their staff is awesome. RSM http://www.rsmadness.com/ has done two feature articles previously on my work and this is my fourth time being published by them. I've added the photos of my book to the slide show at the right side.

I never tire of rubber stamping and I so appreciate this publication that is dedicated to this art medium. The biggest craze seems to be scrapbooking - but wouldn't that hobby be even more fun with rubber stamp images being added to the pages telling your story? I am also a calligrapher - and I add rubber stamp images to my projects there too!

So if you are a rubber stamper and have not sent in your art work to RSM - I can only encourage you to do so. They are a kind and generous staff who really appreciates their readers!
